Who am I, and how did I get here? My name is Jenine, and my story reads a lot like most birth professionals out there. I was on track for something else, when my love of birth challenged me to take a different path.
I’ve always known that I wanted to help people. It was junior high when I decided that a career in Psychology was the way to go. Near the end of my schooling I realized that while I did want to help, it was in a different way. Birth had been tugging at my heart for a while, and I finally admitted to myself that that was where my true passion lay. I attended a training workshop by DONA that spring, and knew immediately that being a Birth Doula is what I was meant to be.
I had the pleasure in 2008 to start attending births, and every experience has reaffirmed my commitment to this choice. Being able to hold space while these strong women become mamas is something I wouldn’t give up for the world. I took a hiatus while starting my own family and now I am so pleased to be accepting clients full time as a doula.
I am truly blessed to be supported by a wonderful husband, and our two children. If I had had any doubts prior, the presence of my doula at my own first labor confirmed that every single woman in the world should have access to the wonderful, calming presence of a doula.
Other than being completely enthralled every day with my littles, I enjoy being outside and going for walks, camping, watching sappy romance movies, and, as a true Winnipegger, cheering on the Jets.
I look forward to speaking with you, and hearing more about you and where you come from. If you have any questions about what makes me tick, please ask!
